YOUR NEW PROPERTY AWAITS
“My experience with you as a Realtor has been almost too good to be true-especially after seeing some others in practice. I think the two things that stand out the most were the quickness in which you returned my inquires-phone calls and emails-and how you explained each process in a way that I could understand. In each profession it is easy to use a “language” that often leaves the customer just nodding their head but not really understanding what is happening. You took the time to explain each step and before I signed the “dotted line” I did know what was happening. I also appreciated the professional, yet kind way you dealt with the circumstances that went with the last sale. Fruit of the Spirit flowing from you!”

This gives them a unique look at ranches and can give potential buyer insights as to the cattle business pertaining to the ranch they are looking for. Rich and Andy help clients after their purchase signing up for the Landowner Preference program, planting crops, cow rotation, water improvements and the general running of the property that they own. Many past clients are now great friends and keep in touch or drop by the office to say “Hi”. They are also avid hunters and sometimes difficult to find in the office during bow, rifle, elk and deer seasons and also when the Steelhead are running in the John Day.

What is a ranch?
A ranch is an area of land, including various structures, given primarily to the practice of ranching, the practice of raising grazing livestock such as cattle and sheep most often applies to livestock-raising operation in the Western United States, though there are ranches in other areas. People who own or operate a ranch are called ranchers, cattlemen, or stockgrowers. Ranching is also a method used to raise less common livestock such as horses, elk, American bison or even ostrich, emu, and alpaca.
Ranches generally consist of large areas, but may be of nearly any size. In the western United States, many ranches are a combination of privately owned land supplemented by grazing leases on land under the control of the federal Bureau of Land Management or the United States Forest Service. If the ranch includes arable or irrigated land, the ranch may also engage in a limited amount of farming, raising crops for feeding the animals, such as hay and feed grains.
What is it like owning a ranch?
Owning a ranch can provide intangible benefits such as uninterrupted family time and the enjoyment of nature. Choose your property wisely and manage the land carefully, and ranches can provide tangible benefits as well. Well-run working ranches can yield 1 percent to 3 percent of income annually.
